HDC / CFC Study Tour
Ornamental Cut Brassica Production – advance notification of event
8th & 9th October 2014 (provisional)
The Netherlands – various locations
This study tour will examine a number of key elements in the production of quality ornamental cut brassica production, namely variety selection, leaf colouration and the method of field establishment (drilling v transplanting) on harvesting. The group will travel out to The Netherlands on the afternoon/evening of 8th October. The provisional itinerary for the 9th October is:
- Visit Multi Color Flowers, Cotoneaster 11, 1424 De Kwakel, The Netherlands to examine leaf colouration in brassicas.
- Visit Takii Europe B.V., Hoofdweg 19, 1424 PC De Kwakel to view the outdoor variety field trial.
- Grower visits (2-3) to look at commercial ornamental brassica production, specifically the effect of drilling and transplanting on plant quality and harvesting.
The return journey will be the evening of the 9th October. The cost of these events has been around £200 per person to cover travel to and from the UK, accommodation and meals (HDC covers the cost of internal transport in The Netherlands).
