HDC/CFC Tulip Mechanisation Study TourNorth Holland
25 and 26 February 2014
Meet at Stansted Airport
At the HDC/CFC tulip workshop staged during April 2013 there was broad agreement amongst the growers who attended the event that they would like to look at Dutch tulip mechanisation during the early part of 2014.
With the help of Ian Collison, JA Collison and Sons, the HDC in conjunction with the CFC have now arranged a two day event for the 25 and 26 February2014 to examine all aspects of tulip mechanisation. This will include fully automated bench production systems, as well as manual picking feeding into automated bunching and sleeving systems. The first day will concentrate on the equipment available from Potveer, while the second day will focus on the Bercomex systems.
New production techniques using ozonated air and water are also being developed in Holland to reduce losses (from disease and ethylene damage) in both the dry bulb stage and during rooting in the water trays. These new systems are being used by some of the nurseries which will be visited during the study tour, giving you an opportunity to see the new technology in use.
The HDC will fund the organisational and internal transport costs of the trip, participants are expected to pay for their own flights, hotel and meal costs. Once numbers have been confirmed, the CFC will block book the flights and accommodation and invoice the growers once the study tour has been completed. The total cost of the trip is likely to be around £250-300 per person. So that bookings can be made, confirmation is required by 22 January 2014. Once bookings have been made, monies are non-refundable. Event Itinerary
