Week 17 (2016) update

2 May, 2016 by lyndon

This week we planted a new range of Scabious called “Scoop” both in the tunnels and outside.  With frosts still a distinct possibility it will be interesting to see how frost hardy they are.

At the same time as planting the Scabious, some of the grasses were also planted outside (see left hand photo below) but two frosts later they did not look very healthy (see photo on far right).  By contrast the Scabious does not seem to have been harmed by the frosts (see photo in the middle).

After being nipped off by the frosts in January before the covers were put on in late Feb (see left hand photo), the Alstro is now growing away well and has just had the support wires reinstated (see right hand photo).
