Week 21 Update

2 June, 2014 by lyndon

The main trial to be planted this week was the alternative lily growing media trial which is being kindly hosted by James Cole of E M Cole Farms Ltd.  The variety of lily used was Dynamite with the growing media combinations being 100% lily peat, 100% Coir, 50% lily peat and 50 % Coir, a Bulrush commercial compost containing “Forest Gold”, 80% peat and 20% Anaerobic Digestate (AD) residue and finally 60% peat and 40% AD residue.  The crates were than placed in a cold store and will be housed in the glasshouse in 10 to 14 days time.

After finally being able to obtain seed for (some!!!!) of the direct drilled fillers, we have now sown Bupleurum, Cosmos, Ammi Visnaga, Anethium graveolens (Dill), Euphorbia oblongata and Ridolfia.
