Week 23 update

15 June, 2013 by lyndon

In week 23 we have sown the second planting of sunflowers.  The earlier sowing is growing well but some of the germination has been a bit eratic.

Large differences are showing up in the ADAS stocks herbicide trial and at this early stage, Wing P seems to have been quite damaging to the crop (see photo below).  It is interesting to note that being planted in unsteamed soil, the Fiagaro are not performing anywhere near as well as the Fedora which again confirms the observations made on growers holdings over the past few years that Figaro (and Aida) need to be planted into steamed soil in order to produce a good quality crop.

In week 23 we have also planted 5 cultivars of Karma Dahlias to provide fresh stems for additional vase life work that will be undertaken by Floralife.
