Week 24 (2019) update

24 June, 2019 by lyndon

What a difference a week makes, last week we were almost in drought conditions and then this week Holbeach is topping the UK rainfall chart (until Wainfleet overtook it that was!).  The field that we intended to use for perennials looks suited for rice than Eryngium!

However towards the end of the week the weather did improve somewhat and some of the tunnel trials were ready for cropping.  The new varieties of Astrantia (Sparkling pink and red stars) were cropped this week.  The quality was superb and the stem length exceeded 65cm.

The second year down Veronica was also ready to crop this week with the blue flowering first and stem length exceeding one metre.
