Week 25 (2016) Update

3 July, 2016 by lyndon

Yet another week gone by when the wet weather has not allowed us to plant up the aster and Sweet William herbicide trials.  Lets hope for a drier week next week!!

This week we have planted the column stocks variety trials  (see photos below) .  We have obtained most of the commercially avilailable varieties (and a few new ones) from both Florenis and Noordam Plants and 2mts of each variety has been planted in both steamed and unsteamed soil.   Our hope is that these will all be in flower for the annual Open Day on the 10th of August.

The CFC also supplied a range of flowers for the NFU display at this years Lincs show, including alstroemeria, foliage, eryngium and Eremurus (see photos below).

The  other trials are growing well and it is anticipated that we will have some grasses and Cleome ready to harvest next week.
