The early sowings of the seed grown fillers are showing very variable results this year. The Carthamus has well developed buds and the cosmos is starting to flower but other products such as the Bupleurum and Ammi are flowering short while the dill and Ridolphia are struggling to grow at all. Presumably this is a result of the mixed up weather that we have had this year, not least the cold June.
A few marketable stems are now being produced by the outdoor Alstroemeria but the contrast between the tunnel crop is remarkable as the following photos show (outdoor on the left and tunnel crop on the right).
The Zinnia are just starting to come into flower and the various different varieties of Eryngium are also now in full flower.
