Week 29 update

20 July, 2015 by lyndon

At last some of the week 17 sowing of the direct seeded fillers are coming into flower such as the carthamus (left hand photo), bupleurum (right hand photo) and cosmos.  The fact that these have taken 12 weeks to come into flower just goes to show the effect of the cold May and June.  We have made another sowing of these in the tunnel to see if it would be possible to get 2 rounds per year from a Spanish tunnel.

The range of Noordam ornamental brassica have also been planted this week both in a Spanish tunnel and outside.  In order for you to have something to see on the Open Day we have netted them  to keep the wildlife at bay!  The Florensis range will be planted when they arrive next week.

The altroemeria show no signs of slowing down despite the hot weather. However the eryngium are now coming to an end and this week will probably be the last cut.

The ADAS herbicide trial on sweet Williams and wallflowers have also been sown this week.
