Week 30 update

6 August, 2014 by lyndon

This week we have sown the final batch of fillers and the second sowing of sunflowers in the Haygrove tunnel.

The Zinnias are gradually recovering from the bacterial problem and we are obtaining marketable stems for vase life testing.  However the stems (and especially the necks) are very stretched this year, presumably due to the long spell of hot weather.  In hindsight, we should have also planted an outdoor batch this year.

The wallflowers and sweet Williams have now fully germinated and there are some very obvious differences in treatments!

The blacked out asters now have well developed buds so we have stopped blacking them out.

Vase life testing also continues in the fillers as they become marketable.
