Week 31 Update

6 August, 2014 by lyndon

Everything continues to grow well in this very warm weather and the alstroemeria have now produced marketable stems.  Each variety is now being vase life tested.

A number of the trials are now ready to harvest especially the transplanted aster and lily herbicide trial – however, we will of course not harvest these until after the Open Day next week.

The column stock Fusarium trial is starting to show some interesting results with some of the fungicides, especially Signum, showing real promise.  However there is a long way to go and after so many “false dawns” with Fusarium control, we need to remain cautious but watch this space.

We have also extended the sweet William herbicide trial by setting up a “field trial” at Belmont Nursery looking at combinations of Devrinol, Defy and Kerb.  This will be open to viewing in a few weeks time.

DON’T FORGET THE OPEN DAY ON WEDNESDAY THE 6TH OF AUGUST!
