Week 32 (2017) Update – OPEN DAY

16 August, 2017 by lyndon

I seem to have spent a lot of time complaining about the weather this year and the date of our Open Day (9th of August) was no exception because it pelted down with rain for most of the day,  blew a gale and the temperature made it feel like it was late November.  The route down to the tunnels was a lake by mid afternoon (see photo below).

However despite the weather (or maybe because of it!) we had a superb turnout with around 90 people attending. The weather has actually calmed down by late afternoon so brollies were not needed for the tour of the trials.  After a tour of the tunnels (left hand photo) the hog roast and ample liquid refreshment (kindly sponsored by Floralife) went down very well indeed (right hand photo).

We also set up a display of a product harvested from a number of the trials (see photo below) which generated a lot of discussion both on the day and with visitors that could not make the 9th but visited the CFC later in the week.

For those of you who could not make it to the event, the handout can be downloaded by clicking on the following link:-
